What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy. It focusses on how thoughts, feelings and behaviour are interconnected. It can help you manage your difficulties by changing the way you think and behave, with the aim of reducing psychological distress and enhancing psychological wellbeing. CBT has been demonstrated to help with a wide range of mental health difficulties, like anxiety, depression, OCD and trauma. Although in CBT the emphasis is usually on the present, it can be helpful to also talk about the past to get insight in how your beliefs about yourself and other people developed. In CBT you can learn new coping strategies and skills, which you can practise in between the sessions. You will be able to explore your difficulties in a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic environment.
